A Call for Transformational Leadership contains highlights from "A Call for Leadership: The United States and Japan," a two-day conference convened in Tokyo in 2001 under the leadership of Dr. Kazuo Inamori, President of the Inamori Foundation, and Dr. David Abshire, President of CSPC. More than 450 conference participants heard the views of political, financial and academic authorities on the skills required of modern day leaders and the challenges facing them. At this nationally televised conference, speakers made recommendations to strengthen the political process in Japan, promote economic recovery and structural reform, meet challenges facing the United States, improve U.S.-Japan relations, and raise the overall quality of leadership.
