Palestine/Israel Health Initiative Program Brochure

PIHI_CoverThe common quest for good health knows no borders. Crossing societies, politics and cultures, the Palestine/Israel Health Initiative (PIHI), a central component of the Advancing Trust and Reconciliation among Palestinians and Israelis initiative, (a project of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) supported by USAID), explored the potential of using health as a bridge to peace. The program is directed by Rear Admiral Susan Blumenthal, MD, MPA, former U.S. Assistant Surgeon General. This brochure provides an overview of the program’s activities including a major conference, meetings, the identification of cooperative health activities in the region, and innovative uses of information technology to build a health e-commons for professional and public education. The brochure describes the project’s purpose, achievements and next steps. A major goal of the Initiative is to promote cooperative activities in health, medicine, and the application of information technology in innovative ways, through which PIHI will help to pave the way toward a more peaceful future in the region.
