Event: Building an Alliance of Techno-Democracies

Building an Alliance of Techno-Democracies

The Biden/Harris administration is considering an ambitious plan for an alliance of “techno-democracies” – also termed League of Digital Democracies or T-12. The goal of the alliance is shaping the rules/norms that govern the use of technology and pushing back against competing narratives of China and other “techno-autocracies.”

This online discussion with leading experts will examine how the United States is uniquely positioned to advance a global data governance framework involving likeminded partners across Japan, the United States, and the EU and how this goal could be operationalized.

This session will also examine aspects of securing 5G networks and achieving data governance with trust, as well as whether U.S. government structures are appropriately aligned to meet these goals.

The moderator is CSPC Senior Fellow Robert W. Gerber. CSPC CEO Glenn Nye will give a foreword.

This event is part of a series on digital security and data governance under CSPC’s program on Geotechnology competition with China. The previous panel in this series can be viewed here. Panelists remarks will be followed by Q&A.
