Oliver Thoma

Oliver Thoma is an attorney who has spent the last decade representing Fortune Global 500 companies in a variety of commercial, mass tort, and government enforcement matters at all stages of litigation in state and federal courts across the United States. In 2023, after practicing at King & Spalding and Norton Rose Fulbright, he joined West Webb Allbritton & Gentry in College Station, Texas, where he uses his high-stakes litigation experience to represent individuals and corporate clients in a variety of litigation and regulatory matters throughout Texas and the United States.

His representative experience includes:

  • Co-lead national counsel for Motiva Enterprises LLC in state attorneys general climate change litigation brought against fossil fuel companies, including advising on issues that have been briefed multiple times before the Supreme Court of the United States.

  • Leadership roles defending multiple Fortune Global 500 companies in nationwide litigation from state attorneys general and private plaintiffs over product liability, tort, and civil fraud/deception claims in the pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical manufacturing, and energy industries.

  • Representing financial institutions (including a real estate private equity fund, a $300MM+ market cap commercial bank, and individual investors) in loan workout negotiations, foreclosure issues, business and fiduciary duty disputes, and receivership proceedings.

  • Representing commercial and residential owners in multi-million-dollar construction defect, deceptive trade practices, and real estate litigation and arbitration.

  • Represented qualified scheduling entities in commercial disputes ($50MM+) arising out of Winter Storm Uri in the Texas electricity market.

  • Successfully obtained asylum protection for Afghan family who fled the Taliban during the U.S. withdrawal in August 2021.

Oliver has also been published by Law360, Texas Lawyer, the ABA, and the Daily Journal on climate change litigation, environmental justice, and false claims act government enforcement.  

Oliver obtained his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University, where he participated in the 2010-2011 Presidential Fellows Class. He obtained a J.D. from Baylor Law School.

In his spare time, Oliver enjoys outdoor adventures with his wife and three sons, coaching Little League baseball for his sons, singing along with the Willie Nelson radio station, and Texas A&M sporting events.
