As part of our 2024 holiday giving campaign, we’re excited to feature weekly alumni spotlights highlighting our At-Large alumni.

The campaign directly supports the At-Large Fellows program, empowering the next generation of civic-minded leaders!

This year, we’re introducing a new way to give through monthly sustaining donations! When you make a one-time gift of $100 or become a monthly donor, you’ll receive exclusive CSPC-branded gifts, be entered into a raffle for tickets to our prestigious CSPC Awards Gala, and be recognized in our Leadership Circle.

Help us reach 25 donors before 2025 to help sustain and grow this incredible program!

What are you doing now?
I am currently an analyst working within the National Security field. My current focus is Space and Space related issues. I recently completed my eight-year service commitment to the United States Navy and transitioned into the federal civilian service.

How did you hear about the At-Large Fellows program and what inspired you to apply?
I heard about the At-Large Fellows program through another phenomenal presidential fellowship alumni, Evelyn Burch-Jones. I applied to the program because I have always had an interest in the multilayered approach of policy creation to policy execution in the many fields of the federal government. I felt CSPC was an amazing opportunity to gain valuable insight to the inner workings of these processes.

What is your favorite memory from the Fellowship?
My favorite memory from the Fellowship was the D.C. conference. I had the opportunity to meet with the rest of my very talented and intelligent cohort. I also had the amazing opportunity to ask both Senator Tim Kaine and Representative Mike Gallagher about their thoughts on the state of diplomacy between the U.S. and the People’s Republic of China.

I will also state that a very close second favorite memory was finishing my research paper. For the majority of the Fellowship, I was on deployment in the middle of the ocean. Finishing the paper symbolized both the ending of my research and coming back home to the United States.

How has the Fellowship supported your academic or career goals?
The Fellowship allowed me to interact with policy makers, both past and present, and gain valuable insights to the very intricate process known as the government. It also provided me an avenue to conduct longer term historical analysis to support a conclusion, which happens to be a very critical portion of my current position.

If you could have any job, what would it be?
I would be a part time stay at home father of two, and a part time foreign affairs consultant. Traveling in conjunction with family? I couldn’t imagine a better life!
