Book event: In the Company of Heroes: The Inspiring Stories of Medal of Honor Recipients from America’s Longest Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq

On the eve of Veterans Day, please join CSPC President Glenn Nye for a discussion with award winning national security correspondent and CSPC Senior Fellow James Kitfield to talk about his new book “In the Company of Heroes: The Inspiring Stories of Medal of Honor Recipients from America’s Longest Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq” (Center Street Publisher). In gripping narratives that profile the 25 Medal of Honor recipients from the post-9/11 conflicts, Kitfield chronicles some of the most intense and impactful battles of the past two decades, and traces the sweeping arc of America’s longest wars, from initial routs and “Mission Accomplished,” to nearly twin defeats against implacable terrorist insurgencies, to hard-fought and largely successful “troop surges” that ultimately ended in a gray zone somewhere between defeat and outright victory. Along the way readers become intimately acquainted with America’s all-volunteer military during its first extended period of war.
